Discover Mandai Wildlife Reserve – Singapore’s Premier Wildlife Destination
Located in northern Singapore, Mandai Wildlife Reserve is the country’s flagship nature and wildlife precinct. Managed by Mandai Wildlife Group, it brings together five major wildlife parks within a single integrated destination focused on conservation, education, and sustainable tourism.
The reserve offers experiences from daytime wildlife encounters to night-time exploration, making it suitable for families, tourists, and local nature enthusiasts.
About Mandai Wildlife Reserve
Mandai Wildlife Reserve spans approximately 126 hectares beside the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. It houses more than 21,000 animals across over 1,000 species, including many that are endangered.
Beyond the wildlife parks, the precinct includes walking trails, green public spaces, eco-friendly infrastructure, and an eco-resort operated by Banyan Tree, designed with sustainability principles in mind.
The Five Wildlife Parks at Mandai
1. Singapore Zoo – Open-Concept Wildlife Experiences
Opened in 1973, the Singapore Zoo is internationally recognised for its open-concept design. Naturalistic habitats and hidden barriers such as moats and glass panels allow close-up animal viewing while prioritising animal welfare.
2. Night Safari – The World’s First Nocturnal Wildlife Park
Launched in 1994, Night Safari was the world’s first park dedicated to nocturnal animals. Visitors can explore via guided tram rides or walking trails, using specialised lighting designed to minimise disturbance to wildlife.
The Creatures of the Night presentation remains one of its most popular attractions.
3. River Wonders – Freshwater Ecosystems of the World
Previously known as River Safari, River Wonders showcases major river habitats from around the world. Highlights include giant pandas, the Amazon River Quest boat ride, and Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater aquarium featuring species such as manatees and stingrays.
4. Bird Paradise – Asia’s Largest Bird Park
Opened in 2023, Bird Paradise replaced the former Jurong Bird Park. It features large walk-through aviaries representing habitats such as African wetlands, South American rainforests, and Australian grasslands.
5. Rainforest Wild Asia – Immersive Asian Rainforest Experience
Rainforest Wild Asia is the newest addition to Mandai, offering an immersive rainforest-themed experience. Visitors explore multi-level walkways, forest trails, and cave-like environments designed to reflect Asian tropical ecosystems.
The park features native wildlife species alongside landscapes intended to blur the boundary between nature and exhibit design.
Plan Your Visit
All five parks are located within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve precinct and can be accessed by car, taxi, or public transport. One convenient option is to travel from Khatib MRT station via the Mandai Khatib Shuttle.
Tips For Members
Parking pass upgrade
Frequent drivers may add a Parking Pass to their membership for convenient access to the Mandai Wildlife East and West multi-storey carparks, subject to prevailing fees and terms.
Dining recommendation at Courtyard Café
Based on personal experience, the Nonya Chicken Curry with Nasi Kerabu at The Courtyard Café (located near the Mandai East carpark) is a solid choice for a proper meal, with generous portions and well-balanced flavours.
While the animal-shaped buns are visually appealing and popular with children, the pastry skin tends to be relatively thick compared to the amount of filling.
Friends of Mandai members currently enjoy 20% off at the café, subject to prevailing terms and exclusions.
